The off-season is finally here and so is the pursuit of Carlos Correa. While several teams are in pursuit of the superstar shortstop, his future still remains indeterminate. And with the New York Yankees still in the race to land the athlete, team chemistry is a factor too. Recently, Aaron Judge of the Yankees spoke to the media about the possibility of one day joining up with Correa and the potential to come from the trade.

Aaron Judge, the Yankees’ right-fielder, would certainly be some distance from Correa on the field if he was to sport pinstripes; but he seemed quite happy about the possibility of Correa in the Yankees dugout. With the superstar shortstop after a mega-contract, though, the signing could upstage Judge’s chances at renewing his own contract with the Yankees. But if it’s going to lead to a Yankees win; Judge seemed to be just fine with the transfer.

Showing a classic winner’s mentality, Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees opened up to the media about a potential Carlos Correa signing. And he was only happy with the possibility of such a move.

“If he comes here, and he can help us win, that’s what it all comes down to … it’s about winning.”

The New York Yankees need reinforcements at shortstop and, despite signing the 2020 Golden Glove winner, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Correa could represent a distinct step-up. Correa put in some stunning displays at the Houston Astros in 2021, and with his free agency the center of discussion for a majority of the off-season, he could well stand to land a major contract.

Where he ends up in 2022 though is still a matter for discussion across the league. And if it was to be the New York Yankees, Aaron Judge seemed quietly assured that it should be because the fit in the team is accurate. Said Judge, “If he comes here, and he can help us win, that’s what it all comes down to.”
Fresh off a wild card loss to arch-rivals in the Boston Red Sox in 2021, the New York Yankees will be looking to shake off the past and make a legitimate run in the post-season in 2022. And Judge seems to have his eyes on the prize. “It’s about winning,” said Judge.
