Mike Trout will be one of the most highly anticipated players to make his way onto the diamond this season. With a large part of the last two seasons, and consequently Trout’s prime being lost first to the pandemic and then to injury for Trout, 2022 could be a turnaround year.
The LA Angels have also seen the emergence of Shohei Ohtani last season and with that tandem, they look set to dominate. And Mike Trout seems no less excited about it either.

Mike Trout has been on the LA Angels for 11 seasons and just prior to his 12th he seemed as excited as ever. Now on the other side of the fated 30-year-old mark, Trout seemed just as eager and hungry as in any of his previous seasons. In fact, he felt that this year might even be more special than any other.
Mike Trout is excited for 2022
With spring training finally starting in full swing after the lockout lengthened off-season, Trout engaged with media to make clear what he thought of the season coming up in 2022. With the athlete definitely excited to get things going, Trout said, “I feel like a little kid again.”

Getting back into playing form may be a tough proposition for any athlete. But for Trout, coming back from an injury lay-off with sustained time off from the game, it was perhaps even more intimidating. Trout, however, seemed eager to get going. “Just very excited to get out there, I was very anxious,” said Trout. “Couple nerves there running through the body before the first AB but it felt good to be out there.”

Trout added that the season had something in it for him personally as well. Trout Said, “I gotta prove that I can go out there and play the full season, get to the playoffs. I think that’s the biggest thing on my shoulders right now, get to the playoffs.”
With the tandem of Ohtani and Trout likely packing the biggest 1-2 punch in the league at the moment from home plate, a season of glory may be in the offing and Trout seems to be well aware. When asked about the personal competition he said, “It’ll be a fun battle I think. We’re all trying to win so whatever gets us there.”
