Bryce Harper is undoubtedly one of the greatest hitters that the game has ever seen. And while he holds several remarkable stats against the pitcher, one stat is notable against the run of play. Marcus Stroman is one of the most feared presences on the mound in the Major Leagues. With a feared 2-seam fastball set to trouble batters at the Wrigley field from 2022, Stroman looks raring to go. And with the Mets saga now behind him, Stroman is eager to test himself against the best. Perhaps as an effect of just that, he has managed to deliver against top performers in the Majors. More specifically, Bryce Harper.

Marcus Stroman reacts to astounding stat

While baseball undergoes a lockout, Twitter chose to take a look at the past stats. One of them and possibly the best Stroman stat. Part of an elite club of 2, Stroman has held the 2-time MVP hitless and still not conceded a walk against the power hitter.

However, it seemed as though Stroman, too knew that this was not an edge that would last long. Conceding in his tweet, Stroman wrote, “I’m sure he’ll get me at some point.”

Possibly speaking to how much Stroman respects the player, he added, “I love battling against one of the best players to ever play this game!”

The mark of a true competitor is his want to compete against the best the League has to offer; Stroman certainly seems to keep up with that standard. Stroman, now Chicago Cub, will be hoping to continue his streak; as he pitches to Harper from the mound at Wrigley Field too.

The pitcher seemed quite aware that the stat was probably an outlier acknowledging the star hitter’s abilities. “Harper is a legend legend.” wrote Stroman as he took to the micro-blogging site to acknowledge his newfound stat.

While true in most cases around the league, this seems like a case of ‘game recognizing game’ in the Major Leagues and the contest between the two is surely getting closer with the lockout hopefully drawing to a close soon.
