Notably, Scherzer was also one of the eight members of the players’ union that negotiated the CBA deal with the MLB owners. Earlier, before the lockout, New York Mets signed the MLB veteran to strengthen their roster for the next season. But from the outside, it seemed like, with signing Scherzer, the Mets might have created another problem for themselves.

Because having two starters in the same roster might create a bad environment inside the team. But, thanks to Scherzer, that’s definitely the case at the Citi Field.

Max Scherzer is not concerned about taking Jacob deGrom’s role at the New York Mets

Apart from being a top player on the field, Scherzer is one of the coolest players in Major League Baseball. Having two superstars in the same team and for the same position might have created a ruckus at the New York Mets. But, knowing that, deGrom has been playing for the Mets for years, Scherzer is ready to sacrifice his role.

According to a baseball columnist, Bob Klapisch, Max Scherzer is willing to let deGrom start the pitch. And with this, the Mets’ official couldn’t be more glad. During the first day of his training at the Mets’ camp, Scherzer said that deGrom comes before him. And he is there to help deGrom.

Bob took to Twitter and shared the words of Scherzer. “I’m here to help Jake. He should get the ball whenever he wants. He comes before me,” said Max Scherzer.

Notably, after the 2021 season, the New York Mets signed Max Scherzer on a three-year deal. The Mets paid a whopping $130 million to sign Scherzer. With this, Scherzer also became the highest-paid MLB player for the 2022 season.
