The New York Yankees start the 2022 season with a fair number of new signings. With Josh Donaldson teeing up in the lineup, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa taking the infield on the diamond, the Yankees are set for a change in their commentary team, with Carlos Beltran joining the ranks.

And despite the former athlete having been on the controversial World Series-winning 2017 Astros, Aaron Judge believes that Beltran should have nothing to say to the Yankees.

The Yankees took on the Astros in the 2017 ALCS, and it seemed to be about two teams on the cusp of achievement. With the Yankees sporting a hyper-performing Aaron Judge and Didi Gregorious on their roster, it appeared like they were just about to break through; only to be denied by the Houston Astros.

In the aftermath of that upset, several Yankees players resorted to calling out the Astros. And Aaron Judge is chief among them. However, it seems that he has come around.

Aaron Judge, however, seems to have moved past the bad blood. Judge Said“in my opinion, I don’t think he needs to say anything to us.

Beltran will be taking over commentating on New York Yankees matches come 2022, and Judge seems all too glad to see Beltran back in the Bronx. “I’ve got a lot of respect for Beltran, he helped me a lot during his time here as a player,” he added.

Judge added, “He spent a lot of quality time just kind of talking to me about the game, the mental side of the game, his approaches, how to be a good teammate.” The two were teammates on the Yankees before Beltran’s move to the Houston Astros in 2016.

The 2017 series between the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros was eventful. After its conclusion, with the Astros taking bragging rights, the Yankees were quite upset with Aaron Judge being fairly public with his opinion.

Calling out the Astros at the time, Judge said, “you cheated and you didn’t earn it.” Carlos Beltran, a former New York Yankee was also on the roster for the Houston Astros at the time; and, as a result, became the centerpiece of the controversy.

However, Beltran soon retired from the game. Despite being appointed manager of the New York Mets; Beltran was unable to see a single game in charge. As the news of the scandal broke, Beltran saw his upheaval from the post in 2020. Aaron Judge, however, seems to have gotten past the controversy surrounding the series.
