Albert Pujols needs no introduction. The legendary slugger has dominated Major League Baseball for over two decades. And even after playing for so many years, the Cardinals’ icon is in no mood to stop. However, unlike his professional life, Pujols’ personal life is not going so well for him.

Recently, Albert Pujols’ wife Deidre Pujols revealed that she has a tumor in her brain. And incidentally, the surgery happens to be on the same day Albert Pujols played his first game back for the Cardinals.
However, before going for the surgery, Deidre let everyone know of her condition via an Instagram post.

Albert Pujols’ wife Deidre undergoes surgery for a brain tumor
According to MLB insider Hector Gomez’s tweet, Deidre knew about the tumor since last year’s October, but out of fear, she kept delaying the surgery.
“To all of my beloved, tomorrow in the early morning hours, I will arrive for surgery to remove a brain tumor. That was discovered in my head back in October. I have delayed this procedure for as long as I could out of fear…”, said Albert Pujols’ wife.

Deidre also wrote about the value of time in her life, “I don’t believe, I’m finished living out my dash. But in sensitive times like… I can’t help but reevaluate all of my life investments.”
Pujols makes spring debut amidst his wife’s critical condition

Meanwhile, on his debut day for the Cardinals, Pujols confirmed the well-being of his wife. He also confirmed that the tumor was not life-threatening. And had it been, he would have been with Deidre.

Taking to Twitter, Marly Rivera of ESPN shared the update. The tweet said, “Pujols said that Deidre underwent surgery this morning and all went well, and that 99% of what was a benign tumor that she had for a while was removed.”
Notably, after his homecoming to the Cardinals, Pujols made his spring training debut on Wednesday against the Washington Nationals.
