Once the lockout in Major League Baseball ends and the regular-season starts, the game of baseball will be a bit different from recent years. Notably, from this season onwards, MLB has announced the inclusion of two new rules. And with these recent changes, it seems like the New York Mets are quite happy. Recently, the Mets’ hitting coach Eric Chavez said he loves the inclusion of universal DH (designated hitter).

A week ago, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, during his media address, announced that from the 2022 season, universal DH will play in all leagues, while the draft-pick compensation for free agents will be eliminated. Notably, earlier universal designated hitters were part of only the American League teams in MLB. But from the 2022 season, the National League teams can play a universal DH in their squad.

“I love it, personally. I always hated seeing pitchers get hurt. It’s a part of the game,” Chavez said. “I get the history part of it. But I think it’s better for the overall game. And definitely as of now the way it’s set up, I think it’s definitely going to favor us this year.”
