The Houston Astros have been one of the most consistent sides in MLB in the past few years. However, the 2022 season has not been so kind to them. First, they lost their superstar shortstop Carlos Correa to a rival team, and now veteran player Jose Altuve has met with an injury.

Though the Astros started the 2022 MLB campaign with a series victory over the LA Angels, now they are losing games at regular intervals. Jose Altuve has been a guiding force for the Astros over the years. With Correa gone, Altuve’s injury will be a massive blow for the Astros manager Dusty Baker.

However, Dusty Baker expects the 2017 MVP to recover quickly and make his comeback after a few days. Notably, after the series against the LA Angels, the Astros will face the Toronto Blue Jays. And to play against a powerful side like the Blue Jays, Altuve will be needed most for the Astros.

Dusty Baker confirms Jose Altuve to miss a few days at least due to an injury

Since Altuve’s MLB debut in 2011, he has played only for the Houston Astros. He played an instrumental role in the World Series victory in the 2017 season, which earned him the MVP award in 2017. Altuve has been one of the most valuable players for the Astros over the years. Now, with Altuve’s hamstring injury, the Astros will miss his services for a few games.

Reacting to Altuve’s injury, the Astros manager Dusty Baker confirmed that he will be fine in a few days. The injury is said to be not very serious, and that is why Baker has not placed him on the injury list.

“A few days at least,” Dusty Baker said. “You know, just want to make sure that he is okay and then you know do not pull that thing. So, that’s why we have not placed him on the injury list because it might not be the full term.”

Notably, on Monday, the Astros clashed with the Angels at the Minute Maid Park. With Altuve on their side, the Astros handed an 8-3 defeat to the Angels. But, while playing in the eighth inning, the Astros second baseman Jose Altuve left the ballpark with a strained hamstring.

Coming to the next game, Altuve did not play against the Angels. The Astros realized the absence of their star player and lost the second game to the Angels by 7-2. If Altuve does not recover from his injury, it will be very tough for the Astros to play against the Toronto Blue Jays this week.
