Freddie Freeman – new signing for the New York Mets?

Andy Martino of SNY recently took to answering questions from viewers about the New York Mets in 2022. And in one of the most anticipated questions, he answered, he had an update about the chances of Freeman shifting base to Queens. Wrote Martino, “I’ll say that the odds are close to zero that Freddie Freeman will become a Met in 2022.”

While causing disappointment to a fair few hearts in Queens, Martino kept the door ajar too on the potential of a possibility. Wrote Martino, “I actually want to say zero, but have lived long enough to understand that the universe can surprise us.”

The rumor mill reportedly started churning after ESPN’s Buster Olney stated that the Mets had ‘checked in’ on Freeman before the lockout. However, Martino wrote that this move seemed unlikely.

At 32 years old, Freeman seems to be the man everyone is after. The first baseman has plied his trade with the Braves for 12 years and has garnered some solid recognition to go with. And at this point in his career, while a switch to the Mets seems unlikely, it has been reported that a move to New York is not as unlikely. With the New York Yankees showing some interest in signing the 1st baseman, 2022 could well see Freeman sporting pinstripes.
