Freddie Freeman and his tryst with Truist Park may soon be coming to an end. Or so the pundits say. Reportedly, with the 1st baseman lined up for free agency this off-season it could well mean that the two may see a drift away from each other come the 2022 season.

Amid a lockout lengthened off-season, the Atlanta Braves remain favorites to sign Freddie Freeman back but according to chatter online, he could be looking for greener pastures. And there are several suitors that have emerged to give Freeman home in his quest. Specifically, the Yankees have emerged as crowd favorites to sign his services at first base. And when the pinstripes come calling, it’s hard to say no.

Freeman has had a stellar year with the Braves winning the World Series in 2021 after a 6 game series against the Houston Astros. And that’s not even to mention his National League MVP that he won with the Braves in 2020. You can certainly see where the theories come from.

It seems as though Freeman has done all that he can at the Braves and a new challenge is really what can drive his achievements at this point in time. And a new team will certainly present that challenge. But the question that remains in his free agency is whether he will re-sign with the Atlanta Braves or will look to switch for greener pastures for 2022.

Freddie Freeman – free agent

Freeman has been with the Atlanta Braves since his debut season in 2010 and his World Series win in 2021 is undoubtedly one of his finest moments. And despite talks having begun several times over the past year, no agreement has been arrived at between Freeman and the Braves front office. As such his signature still remains ripe for the taking and if the Braves don’t act quickly at the end of the lockout, we may well see Freeman don a different uniform come 2022.

His teammate at the Braves too seemed to agree that Freeman could be poised for a switch. Third baseman, Chipper Jones in a radio interview made some revelations that speak to Freddie Freeman and his free agency.  “The Braves have made some offers, didn’t make him happy,” Jones said.

“He’s being courted by some of the prettiest girls on the block right now, he’s gonna listen to them.” added Jones. Reportedly, the Yankees are interested in signing the first baseman, but several other rosters would do well to gain his services too. Specifically, both the LA Dodgers and the Texas Rangers have expressed some interest. The Toronto Blue Jays too were stepping up their efforts to sign the free agent at the last report.

“I hope that he thinks about his legacy here in Atlanta and they can come to some sort of an agreement to bring him back,” said Jones. Clearly a beloved team man, Freeman has made an impact where he has gone and it would take a bit to uproot him from his Atlanta abode.

What do you think? Is Freeman up for a switch? Where do you think he will go if he decides to take the plunge?
