The New York Yankees will be looking to correct their record. With a disappointing end to their 2021 campaign, the Yankees will be looking to recoup and mount an attack on the World Series again. And the 2022 season looks rife for their challenge. But in order to build for the season, the Yankees will need to ensure some signings. And with the lockout lumbering on, those discussions only seem to be lengthening. However, manager Aaron Boone has shown some positive intent.

The New York Yankees seem to be a team that has underperformed. Despite consistent post-season runs, the fan base will be clamoring for their first laurels since 2009 when they won the World Series. And despite racking up consistent post-season qualifications, Boone has been unable to cross the final stage and win the pennant just yet. However, with every season comes the opportunity and in 2022 it is to make signings. Despite the lockout slowing things down, Boone weighed in on acquiring new talent for the Bronx.

Aaron Boone opens on recruiting talent

Aaron Boone indicated that even if it may be unconventional, he is willing to move to recruit free agents during spring training if necessary.

Boone also mentioned that he had engaged with a few players prior to the lockout beginning. However, he seemed reluctant to name any names. Boone seems to be following the lockout rues of not speaking to or about any of the current contracted players rather stringently.

The report, published in the New York Post notes that he only mentioned 3 player names over their conversation. Michael King, and two members of the 1980 Phillies: Steve Carlton and Mike Schmidt. All players that have had a few days pass since they last played in Major League Baseball.

Aaron Boone has been at the Yankees since 2018 and despite 4 post-season runs with the Bronx Bomber will be after that ever-elusive World Series Title. And yet the lockout seems to have put a dampener on his preparation.

While the 2022 season was set to begin with a lockout, no one was hoping it would go on for this long. And certainly not for teams that would have been looking to reinforce their bid for the title. However, it seems as though Boone is coping well with the lack of off-season action; preparing instead for whenever it is to resume. Said Boone, ” It will be exciting and as much as can be from our standpoint, coaching standpoint, we will be ready.”
