And with big market teams like the Cubs and Yankees interested, Correa could well be in for a windfall.
Carlos Correa hires Scott Boras
Correa has reportedly hired super agent Scott Boras to negotiate his new contract. And while the shortstop will look to secure the bag with his contract, Boras will likely look to make that as lucrative as possible.
Carlos Correa has hired Scott Boras to represent him, a source confirms. Boras negotiated Corey Seager’s 10-year, $325 million deal with the Texas Rangers, among many others.

Speaking as to reports from other sources too, Correa has switched representation during the lockout. This likely done with the objective of securing the highest level of representation in a deal that will likely define Correa’s career trajectory. When specifically asked about the change in representation however, Correa chose not to comment and referred to his statement instead.

The prospective destinations
Correa has been linked with a whole host of teams for his decision this off season but a few jump off as being realistic. The New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, and the LA Dodgers have all surfaced as potential destinations.

With the Yankees harboring a gap at shortstop in their roster it might well be an ideal destination for Correa. However, the Yankee faithful may yet have to wait to see Correa in pinstripes for the contract valuation.
Correa too will likely be a eyeing a deal similar to Seager. A 10 year commitment with finances in the range of $300 million or more. And while the Yankees aren’t one to shy away from just the price tag, it is believed that they would rather invest in re-signing Aaron Judge or even go for a stop gap shortstop while their farm system delivers.

The Cubs too are in contention for the signing, however it remains to be seen if the term of the contract is something that the parties can come to an agreement on.
In any case, Correa has delivered for the Astros repeatedly and in spectacular fashions and most teams would love to boast him on their roster. The 2021 Platinum Glove Winner had a superb defensive differential for the 2021 season. And Correa is no pushover from home plate either, registering 26 homeruns and 92 RBIs in 555 at-bats.
