The commercial nature of a destination is always uncertain. While Los Angeles has long been the home of all entertainment, it could be seeing some competition in the 2020s. And from one of the most unexpected regions in the country, too. The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul could be new emergent markets for sports franchises even as they see sporting icons come to their city and give it a reputation. The newest among them, is superstar shortstop, Carlos Correa.

The Twin Cities may have had iconic sports franchises for the longest time but it seems as though the market is truly coming into its own at the turn of the decade. With its NBA franchise too seeing some investment from top buyers, Correa, too, has moved to lend some sporting notoriety to the twin cities. And with the entire 2022 season yet to pan out, Minneapolis could be set to see some sporting glory ahead.

Twin Cities – A happening sports hub?

The Twin Cities have seen some level of stars in the city in recent years. With Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez acquiring a minority stake in the city’s NBA and WNBA franchises, too, there remains significant buzz surrounding the cities. And while the franchise may have underperformed in the NBA, the twin cities may just be set to become a multi-sport offering.

With the baseball world’s eyes on Carlos Correa in 2022, he has picked to switch to the Twins in free agency. And while the teams could well contend in MLB, it remains to be seen how far they go. However, their recent player acquisitions have certainly set a tone for the city. They are there to perform and to win. And if that should mean top-quality signings, then so be it. Hence, signing Carlos Correa is nothing if not a statement.

With 2022 set to see Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez and Carlos Correa both featuring in the same city, the glitz and glamor factor for the Twins is sure to see an upswing. But just how far the transfer lasts remains to be seen.

Correa’s contract reportedly runs for 3 years with 2 opt-outs at the end of the 2022 and 2023 seasons. And even if he is to service his full contract time with the franchise, he will need more silverware to convince him to extend his stay.
