The New York Yankees have delivered over expectations so far this season. With most viewers expecting the franchise to be disappointing, they have held their own. Slotting in at joint second in the AL East with the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees enjoyed their best start to a season since 2018 in their Opening Series against their division rivals in the Boston Red Sox.
And a large part of that reason was likely their pitching. And with Gerrit Cole leading the rotation, he expressed a poised assurance in the pitching staff.

The New York Yankees will be hoping that this run continues as best possible, and despite faltering against the Orioles, they nevertheless had an outstanding record from the mound. Regardless of a wanting record from lead pitcher Gerrit Cole, the Yankees’ rotation and bullpen have come in clutch during the opening ten games of the season.
The Yankees starters rank first in the AL with a 2.53 ERA, and their bullpen isn’t too far behind. Second, only to the Rockies in the Majors, the bullpen also has had a respectable 2.03 ERA. Cole, however, appears to be unmoved by the impressive display.
Gerrit Cole – business as usual
Gerrit Cole may not feature on the Yankees’ pitcher rotation as regularly as he wants, but it seems to be doing fine as he ticks along. Save for a few blips, the Yankees have managed some solid displays in their pitching, having completed ten regular-season games. And while not a stark number, ten games is enough to establish a trend and set the tone for the season.
Said Cole, “I can’t say I’m super surprised, to be honest.” Impressing tremendous faith in the pitching staff and the bullpen, Cole appeared fairly confident.
“We have a lot of good guys down there with great stuff,” he added, “Some guys have picked up where they left off last year, and we’ve complemented it with young guys that did their job for us really early.”

New York Yankees shore up pitching staff
Clarke Schmidt, Ron Marinaccio, and JP Sears have all pulled their weight as the Yankees have gotten going. Especially with the starters still finding their groove, Cole lauded the pitching efforts so far. “Certainly, watching those guys pitch with their talent level, you expect good results,” he said.
Cole himself could be aiming to hit the 100 pitch mark with his slated appearance on the mound against the Tigers on Tuesday. Having successfully logged 85 pitches against the Blue Jays earlier, he will draw some confidence from his teammates’ performances so far.
