Ever since the free agency has reopened, the Chicago Cubs made some headlines for the rumors around the new signing. But this time, the Cubs have surprised every baseball fan, as they have signed free agent Seiya Suzuki on a five-year deal.

Notably, earlier this week, the Cubs were also rumored to sign the star free agent, Carlos Correa. But after making some noise, now there is no news about Correa. And instead of waiting for the Correa deal, the Cubs have now sealed the Seiya Suzuki deal.

However, regardless of any player comes or not, the Cubs are already looking very strong after the addition of the Japanese superstar outfielder Seiya Suzuki.

Though he is yet to make his MLB debut, Suzuki is already a star in Nippon Professional Baseball (Japanese league). And now, after signing with the Cubs, the Japanese slugger is all set to make his MLB debut this season.

It’s not that the Cubs have signed Suzuki from nowhere. After the reopening of free agency, a few reports already had suggested the Cubs’ interest in the star outfielder. And now, within a week of the free agency, the Cubs have signed him on a five-year deal.

According to MLB analyst Ryan M. Spaeder, Seiya Suzuki has agreed to a five-year deal for an insane $70 million. The 27-year-old slugger will bring an experience of over 9 years of baseball to the Chicago Cubs. During his time in the Japanese league, he has been a five-time NPB all-star. And later, in the 2019 season, he went on to win the Central League batting title.
