Babe Ruth was arguably one of the greatest baseball players ever to grace the game. Some even say that he is the reason behind making baseball an entertaining game. Ruth is mainly known for his time at the New York Yankees. He is probably the best to put on the pinstripes and play for the Yankees.

However, many fans, those who know about Babe Ruth, know that he did not play for the Yankees his whole career. The Yankees bought him from the Boston Red Sox on a record deal that also caused a lot of controversies. But most of them do not know that Ruth did not end his illustrious career at the Yankees.

Where did Babe Ruth play his last game?

Babe Ruth started and ended his baseball career at a Boston-based team, but it is also true that he never played for the Red Sox after leaving the Yankees. As per Sports Casting, when Ruth left the Yankees, he joined another Boston-based baseball team ‘Boston Braves’ (Now Atlanta Braves), where he played his last major league baseball game and retired in 1935.

Why did Babe Ruth not retire with the Yankees?

It was July 1914, when a 19-year-old Babe Ruth made his baseball debut for the Boston Red Sox. Ruth played for the Red Sox until the 1919 season when the New York Yankees bought him from the Red Sox for a whopping $120,000 amount (a record at that time). After that, he went on to play 15 seasons for the Yankees and that is where he earned his legendary status.

In the 1934 season, when Ruth was in the last stage of his career, his performance started to decline. And that is when the Yankees discarded him from the team. However, even at 39, Babe Ruth didn’t want to retire and gave his career another shot. He then decided to join Boston Braves (now Atlanta Braves) and played one more season before he finally retired in 1935.
