The Atlanta Braves, fresh off their 2021 World Series win, seem to be setting in place their plans for the future. And like with most other products, the future is digital. Reportedly, the Atlanta Braves have revealed that they will be recreating Truist Park digitally. The new initiative will see their home stadium in the metaverse for their fans to experience.

The digital experience will aim to give fans the real-life feel of the stadium. And this while enjoying the comfort of their own homes. The photo-realistic version of the ballpark will allow Braves fan to express their love for their home team digitally. In a world increasingly operating online, it seems the Braves are well prepared.

Details of the release are still awaited, and specifics are still uncertain. However, with more clarity on some variables, the Braves are preparing well for the digital shift. Especially when it comes to Digital Truist Park. The fan experience is the first of its kind put forward by the Braves in collaboration with Major League Baseball.

In addition, it is powered by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine technology. Reportedly, the virtual platform will allow fans the opportunity to experience Truist Park in all its glory. This will also include an experience of the Battery in an immersive, multiplayer environment streamed directly to users. The Braves are the first team to foray into the metaverse and with not much known as to what to expect, details are awaited.

Braves announce Digital Truist Park

“The goal is to create a really impressive, immersive fan experience for a subset of fans that really are clamoring for this right now,” said Braves President & CEO Derek Schiller. There is a tremendous opportunity and potential to open up the digital experience to fans. And there was palpable excitement with this prospect. Said Schiller, “it’s going to open up a world of possibilities for us and our brand and, hopefully, the broader sports community.”

The digital experience will comprise a variety of events. Fans will be able to create and customize avatars to explore the digital space. The digitally built-up areas will include Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta. And the integration of the meta-verse will also allow Braves fans to interact with each other in the digital space. With several performances and meet-and-greets lined up in the pipeline, this is not something that Braves fans will want to miss.

Certainly a welcome measure for Braves fans, this will place the franchise in good stead for the future. With strong digital capabilities, the Braves will truly be able to appeal to a more global audience; and perhaps become a wider fanbase too.
