Like it or not, Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez is the face of Major League Baseball. Even after years of his retirement, A-Rod has not lost his charm in baseball. Having played for over 20 years in MLB, the Yankees legend is one of the biggest sports personalities in American sports.

One thing that A-Rod started doing from the very early days of his career is that he made his connections across the sports personalities of different sports. And thanks to that, he is one of the most popular faces in American sports. Apart from his love for baseball, A-Rod always found basketball a fascinating game.

And because of that, he shared some close relationships with Magic Johnson and the late Kobe Bryant. Many people might not know, but A-Rod and Kobe started their professional careers with a gap of just one-two year.

A-Rod made his MLB debut in the 1994 season, while just two years later, Kobe also made his big debut in the NBA. And guess what? The two of them had tremendous careers in their respective field. They even retired in the same year, i.e., 2016. In 2019, A-Rod and Kobe sat together for a podcast. That’s when A-Rod revealed these things about him and the late Kobe Bryant.

“Kobe and I have so much in common. We kind of came up at the same time,” A-Rod said. “But one of the things we have in common is we showed up at universities. I know he used to show up at Duke. I took classes at Columbia Business School, Miami Business School. And people are like, why are you not in yacht? Why are you not on vacation? I am like, I am practicing. I am getting ready.”
