With lockout still in force, the only thing that has kept baseball fans engaged is the rumors of the free agents’ next destination. Players like Carlos Correa, Freddie Freeman, Clayton Kershaw, and Aaron Judge, who are either in their free agency or in their last year of the contract, are still waiting for the lockout to be over and choose their best possible deal.

When talking about the New York Yankees, they are yet to extend the contract of their star player, Aaron Judge. And there are rumors that the Yankees’ right fielder might not play for them after the 2022 season. Recently, ace journalist Jon Heyman also said something similar that he is not sure the Yankees will renew his contract.

Now, the regular season is about to start, and the MLB market will have a couple of busy weeks once the lockout is over. And once it gets over, the primary target of the Yankees should be to extend Aaron Judge’s contract. Because after this season he will become a free agent. And then he’ll be open to listening to offers from other teams too.
However, renowned MLB insider Jon Heyman believes the Yankees are not really pushing hard to extend Judge’s contract. While talking to Marc Malusis on his podcast, Heyman said the Yankees do like Judge, but he is not sure that the Yankees are going to lock him up.

“They have not made a legitimate offer on him. I think part of that is due to the CBT and luxury tax and them not wanting to go over it. And I do think they liked him,” Heyman said. “So I do think they’ll make a run at him. He doesn’t have a big agent. Maybe they think they can get a deal on him. I’m not so sure that they can, you know. I’m not so confident that they’re going to be able to lock him up.”
