While Bruce Lee?s martial arts sequences in movies made him famous, they also gave him terrible injuries. Mathew Polly’s biography, ?Bruce Lee: A Life? discloses a lesser-known incident when Lee was severely injured while doing a stunt. The injury happened during the climactic fight scene between Lee and Bob Wall, in the movie Enter the Dragon. Safe to say, Lee was not impressed.
Unfolding the real reason for Lee?s anger, the biography highlights how this incident was used to profit the movie. It also mentions Lee?s epic response to the incident, and how he got to have the last word.

In the climax, Wall had to break two glass bottles and jab one bottle toward Lee. The latter had to then kick the bottle from Wall?s hand and respond with a punch. Unfortunately, Lee?s kick missed the bottle in Wall’s hand, while his fist hit the glass bottle?s sharp edge.
Consequently, Lee had to be rushed to the hospital for treatment. Chaplin Chang who accompanied Lee recalled his statement –??I want to kill him.???Later, producer Andre Morgan clarified that Lee didn?t mean those words literally. Morgan explained, ?He knew it was an accident. He was mostly angry because we were going to lose two days of shooting.?.
Post this, the media caught a hint of the rumor that Lee actually wished to kill Wall. The reason for this was to increase the movie?s popularity among the audiences. Later, The Phoenix humorously explained, ?I can?t kill Bob, because the director needs Bob for the rest of the movie?.
Another action sequence where the martial arts legend had to sidekick Wall, helped him get his revenge. Shockingly, Lee insisted on 12 takes of this shot to get it perfect. Though a pad was put on Wall to ensure he didn?t get hurt, Lee?s powerful sidekick sent him flying into the audience, leaving a stunt person?s arm injured.
While the movie was well received by the audiences, Bruce Lee had one more aim to fulfill. The Little Dragon aspired to be as popular as a famous American star, who was also his rival.?
Bruce Lee?s rival and motivation to carve his name in Hollywood?
Lee considered Steve McQueen as his rival in Hollywood. Surprisingly, McQueen was also a big fan of Lee and had once asked him for an autograph. While both Lee and McQueen were friends, they were also very competitive. McQueen also refused to act in Lee?s movie ?The Silent Flute’, which left the latter unhappy over McQueen’s way of rejecting the offer.
