American swimming legend and mighty Olympian Michael Phelps is one of the most decorated Olympians. Counted as one of the best swimmers of all time, Phelps has been an alumnus of the University of Michigan. Interestingly, while Phelps dropped out of the University of Michigan, he still seems to be harboring a lot of love for the place. Especially for his university’s football team, the Michigan Wolverines.

The Michigan Wolverines Football Team recently conquered the Penn State Nittany Lions in an overwhelming and historic showdown. rejuvenating his ties with Michigan, the 23x Olympic gold medalist took to social media to celebrate the moment. 

Michael Phelps lifts the morale of Michigan

The Wolverines Football Team recently secured the ninth victory of their NCAA season by beating rivals Penn State Nittany Lions. Michael Phelps took this opportunity and uploaded a video of the Wolverines after their massive 24-16 victory. Phelps took to Instagram stories and wrote, “Let’s go blue!! @umichfootball.” The story carried a video displaying the football players of Michigan hyping each other up and crying “Hail Michigan!”

While the victory maintaining the flawless season of Michigan is a big takeaway in itself, the win weighs more in value since it was earned against the Nittany Lions. In fact, the Wolverines took their match against the Lions so seriously that they took the win despite their head coach Jim Harbaugh missing the game.

Fresh sparks in the eternal rivalry 

Jim Harbaugh wasn’t present for the match since he was recently banned by the NCAA in the sign-stealing saga. Under this suspension, Harbaugh can coach the team but is not allowed to be present in the match venue. But his team didn’t waver because of it. Halting all attempts within just 60.6 yards per game, Penn State boasts the strongest rushing defense in the NCAA. However, the Wolverines tore right through it.

Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards headed the offense of the Michigan Wolverines and gained over 227 yards on the Lions. Moreover, they also scored three touchdowns, completely dismantling the opposition defense. On the other hand, the Lions had a hard time scoring against Michigan, and couldn’t get anything going until the match was almost over.

This was the third consecutive victory scored by the players of Michigan, which took their head-to-head record to 17-10. Football fans thoroughly revel whenever they see a showdown between the Michigan Wolverines and the Penn State Nittany Lions.

While Michigan is in the lead right now, the Lions always pack a venomous punch whenever they strike. In fact, in 2017, the Lions humiliated the Michigan Wolverines with a towering win of 42-13.
