Michigan Wolverines is going through a pretty rough patch right now. Their sign-stealing fiasco is causing major dents to its ongoing football season with head coach Jim Harbaugh being suspended. While the Wolverines aren’t showing many signs of wear and tear, it’s apparent that the controversy is slowly taking its toll. Amidst the dispute, Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy has a few things to say to the Wolverines’ rivals.
Only days ago, Portnoy advised competitors of his alma mater to focus on their own programs instead of slandering Michigan. Portnoy also speculated about the future of the Big Ten Conference, should the Wolverines leave. With the baffling form of the Cincinnati Bengals, Portnoy is doing everything he can to establish Michigan’s glory days.

In their last confrontation, the Wolverines ripped through arch-rivals Ohio State Buckeyes 30-24. 2nd ranked Michigan Wolverines are holding up well despite allegations of sign-stealing. While the controversy has forced the university to sack former staffer Connor Stallions, one Ohio fan has taken to X to suggest that a similar character might be what the Buckeyes need right now to turn things around, and Dave Portnoy can’t hide his glee. A boasting Portnoy wrote on X resharing the tweet, “I knew they’d eventually see it my way.”

Highlighting Stalions’ controversial actions during their matches, the X post of the Ohio fan read, “I feel like hiring a ex-marine who is lunatic enough to write a 500 page “Ohio State Manifesto” is exactly what the Buckeyes need right now as a program….we need that obsessive, slightly unhinged energy right now.”

Portnoy is always there for Michigan
Michigan’s latest win against Ohio saw them setting a 12-0 in the regular season. That was their third win in succession over their arch-rivals. Something that made the win even more significant was that coach Jim Harbaugh was missing from the sideline in the match owing to an NCAA suspension. Understandably, Dave Portnoy was elated like anything. Apart from taking to social media frequently, he went up to the extent of launching a new line of t-shirts to support Harbaugh. He has been a ‘Michigan Man’ thoroughly.

Since the departure of Tom Brady, the New England Patriots have been struggling to find their way. Portnoy has been a staunch fan of the Patriots for a long time but had to stand behind the Cincinnati Bengals under the new circumstances. While Portnoy’s misfortune isn’t ending anytime soon, he believes the Wolverines will surely turn the tides and come out of their troubles unscathed.
