Jackie Chan is famous for his flexibility and readiness while performing stunts. The veteran action-comedy actor has been doing his own stunts over the course of his career. In fact, his actions attributed to his fame and portrayed him as a robust character who could break his nose, ankles, head, and even risk his life for his work.

Despite all this, he feared death like a normal person, but what haunted him more was the thought of the immobility that comes with age. Jackie Chan fell into emotional turmoil

The Rush Hour actor, who seemed to have an illustrious career and a dedicated fanbase, based on his presentation of kung fu, once almost decided to take retirement when he was 40. In his autobiography, Never Grow Up, Chan opened up about every phase of his life. He shared how the sudden demise of Bruce Lee left him thinking about his future.

Chan thought Lee’s sudden death made him a legend, and that might have been his case too if he embraced death while filming. “If I?d jumped into the volcano during the filming of Chinese Zodiac, it would have been a beautiful exit. Fans all over the world would have wept for me, and everyone would be talking about how Jackie Chan sacrificed his life to cinema”, wrote the actor in his book. But then comes the revelation.

While thinking about his last days, Chan penned, “I didn?t want to die. I don?t want to retire either. Sometimes I wonder if I should just vanish suddenly one day, just pack a bag and fly a plane to somewhere. That might be the way to do it.” Evidently, The martial artist wanted to enjoy life to its limit with the same energy he used to possess once. He would face any injuries no matter how lethal they were. But the kung fu star never wanted people to forget or condemn him for being old.

Chan feared being lethargic

Like any other human being, Chan too faced setbacks in life due to his aging. There was a time when the actor couldn’t stand properly out of his bed or take a shower at night. As he wrote, “…they couldn?t see the pain behind the glamour. Most people wouldn?t be able to comprehend the agony I?ve felt taking a shower at night, or not being able to straighten my back in the morning,?

The legend wanted people to remember him as the sprightly person he once used to be and not someone who is “pathetic” to watch. This is indeed an honest confession from an actor who wants to hold a very impressive place in people’s minds.
