From humble beginnings, Jackie Chan fought his way to Hollywood stardom and amassed a jaw-dropping net worth of $400 million. But with wealth comes the temptation to indulge, and Chan certainly did – splurging on everything from rare wines to exquisite paintings. However, it was his passion for cars that truly consumed him, even earning him the coveted role of lifelong spokesperson for a top brand.
He loved cars so much that he even arranged a tournament with professional racers. But that initiative didn’t last long and Chan revealed the reason in his memoir.

The death of the Jackie Chan Cup
In Never Grow Up (2015), The Karate Kid actor mentioned his passion for racing. “When I was young, a group of us—Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao, Frankie Chan, and Eric Tsang—would go street racing.” He soon became the face of Mitsubishi. In fact, as per the book, the kung fu star used to drive a Mitsubishi car whenever he went for shooting. Soon an idea occurred to him, and he started the Jackie Chan Cup by collaborating with the brand.

Professional racers would take part in the contest, but as he penned, “that stopped being fun after a few years.” He tried again and added a female category to it. But that too failed to attract attention after a while. Soon Chan didn’t feel like continuing. As he wrote, “the event venue charged me a high fee every time for renting the grounds and other expenses…I was bringing them so much business, and they were charging me a fortune.”
Afterward, they moved the event to Zhuhai and Shanghai from Macau, but nothing clicked. So they decided to drop the idea. But Chan’s love for cars never changed since. In fact, he started hoarding cars.
Chan’s extravagant car collection
Evidently, just like he had a craze for martial arts and stunts, the actor was a die-hard fan of cars. He owns several luxurious cars, and among them, there are some that he customized after his name. His collection of cars includes some of the most elite brands. It ranges from Ferraris, and Bentleys, to Lamborghini, and so on.
