With a riding shot, the update was captioned, “Via @nickluck, Willie Mullins says MONKFISH will run in the Savills New Year’s Day Chase at Tramore.” Mullins stated, “We always have nice soft ground there, we’re looking forward to getting him out and I think he’ll love the ground.”

The nine-year-old Monkfish’s last appearance was at Punchestown on April 27, 2023, in the HG1 over 2m 7½f, he finished ninth, but Mullins is eager to unleash the horse’s potential once more. Monkfish is a force to be reckoned with, having returned to the track after two-years. Fans and gamblers alike are looking forward to the Savills New Year’s Day Chase at Tramore since the man himself promised soft ground, which can prove to be Monkfish’s strengths. Willie Mullins announced plans to enter one of his top jumping stars in the coveted Ladbrokes King George VI Chase, a calculated move that has bookmakers on edge. Two-time winner of the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, Allaho will race for Mullins in the £250,000 event on Boxing Day at Kempton. Mullins, who has a reputation for picking his spots in the main British jumps races, is hoping to win the King George again.
