Vincent C Y Ho clinched the horse racing championship title to become Hong Kong’s first homegrown jockey. He got the title after a tactical win aboard Tomodachi Kokoroe. The stage is set for the high-stakes LONGINES Hong Kong International Races at Sha Tin on Sunday, featuring top-tier contests across multiple distances.

Amidst all the excitement surrounding the race, Vincent Ho shares a strong kinship with Hong Kong’s celebrated horse, Golden Sixty, ahead of the HHJC race. They are glued together by victories and an innate feeling of familiarity on the running track. Vincent C Y Ho refers to Golden Sixty as his best pal and will be partnering with him onboard.

Vincent and Golden Sixty’s unique friendship

The trainer of this horse once shared that Vincent and Golden Sixty share a beautiful bond, expressing, “They have a very good friendship, I think the horse knows, of course, he isn’t a human but he knows.” However, this sentiment appears substantiated, as it was revealed in today’s post on X. HKJC Racing shared a video showcasing their relationship. It was captioned as, “Unbreakable bond! @Vincenthocy and Golden Sixty, best buds for life – win, lose, or draw…”

However, it’s worth noting that on April 30th, Golden Sixty made history by securing the Champions Mile first prize, elevating his earnings. In this exceptional triumph, he surpassed the remarkable career earnings of A$26.45 million. Marking a milestone, Golden Sixty became the inaugural horse to claim the Champions Mile three times, while his jockey, Vincent Ho Chak-yiu, emerged as the most successful rider in the race’s history.

Golden Sixty’s horse racing mishap

On October 18th last year, Vincent Ho expressed contentment with Golden Sixty’s trial, despite an unexpected incident that saw him thrown off the turf. Following the horse’s initial trial victory of the season at Sha Tin, Golden Sixty was startled by strong winds, causing Ho to tumble during their morning session. Ho, however, emerged unharmed from the mishap and affirmed Golden Sixty’s readiness for the season ahead, stating,He still feels very good, so I’m looking forward to this season.

Golden Sixty is aiming for a record-equaling third consecutive victory in the upcoming Group One Hong Kong Mile in December after another trial and an upcoming Group Two Jockey Club Mile appearance. Trainer Francis Lui Kin-wai also expressed confidence in the horse’s form despite the mishap, emphasizing his readiness for the challenges ahead.
