The Dubai Racing Carnival is bigger and better than ever and a true show-stopper in the world of horse racing. Consisting of races leading up to the Dubai World Cup, horse racing enthusiasts can look forward to two top-notch events. Recently, the Grade 1 Al Maktoum Challenge (Round 1) culminated in a thrilling finish.
And for the champion stallion, the event marked the third time this 7-year-old veteran of the USA secured the title at the Al Maktoum Challenge R1, which is a qualifying round for the Dubai World Cup.
Horse racing champion secures another formidable win at Meydan

In a post on X by Dubai Racing Club, the account shared a snippet of the final stretch of the thrilling Al Maktoum Challenge Round 1. Blazing through the 1600-meter Meydan Racecourse was Trainer Fawzi Nass’s precocious star, RB RICH LYKE ME. The video showcased the nail-biting final 100 meters when RB RICH LYKE ME and Jockey Adrie de Vries were neck-to-neck with FALAAH and Jockey Amur Al Rasbi.

Despite the close margin of 1/2 (2) and 3 1/2 (5 1/2) between horses in lengths, RB RICH LYKE ME, defying his title, took home the 1st place with AED 300,000, while FALAAH took the second place with AED 100,000, and HIAB AL ZAMAN, ridden by Lucas Van Rensburg, at AED 50,000. This splendid performance by RB RICH LYKE ME took fans back in time when he made waves, winning the Group 1 Al Maktoum Challenge Round 1 for the second time.
How RB RICH LYKE ME broke records
At the Meydan Racecourse in Dubai on January 5, 2023, RB RICH LYKE ME won the race for the second year in a row. Despite facing a strong field of 16 horses, RB RICH LYKE ME, ridden by jockey De Vries, showed exceptional performance, leaving his competitors trailing in the 1600-meter showdown.

With a recorded time of 1:44.72, the American Thoroughbred beat the previous track record set by AF Mathmoon in 2017 and set a new track record for Arabians over 1600 meters. As the Dubai World Cup 2024 is set for March 30 on the same course where RB RICH LYKE ME is on a roll, fans await many more such extraordinary wins by the 7-year-old.
