Najja Thompson recently made a feature at NYRA’s ‘Best of 2023’. Having contributed immensely to the organization and horse racing as a whole, the official’s presence was deemed obvious. Talking about breeding in particular, Thompson was asked about the new stallions coming in and where they fit in with the state-bred program. American Revolution and Bucchero were the first two stallions initially revealed by Najja. “Bucchero offers breeders versatility from a runner who has performed well on dirt, turf, and synthetic,” he revealed.
As for American Revolution, the former New York-bred Horse of the Year will be bred with the son of Constitution who is known for producing talented offspring. “The new stallions join an already excellent value roster,” he continued. Honest Mischief; with a lineage of Graded stakes winners, Mind Control; who covered 190 mares in the state, and Central Banker; the leading New York-bred earner currently make the list.
The state-bred programs ensure breeding as a business acting in beneficial to the region. New York program’s fitting title

In line with the thought, the state recently announced newer regulation, allowing breeders more money with their equine’s 1st to 3rd place finish in the races.

“We hope these increased incentives and returns lead to more investment in bringing additional mares to the state,” Thompson stated. Additionally, the implementations were to ‘ensure sustainability and prosperity for breeding and racing in New York for many years to come’.
