As the two-day horse racing event at the New York Stallion Series stakes on Dec. 16 at Aqueduct Racetrack got its winners, the results didn’t quite please everybody. After My Shea D Lady had won, competing at $500,000 New York-bred juvenile males, Antonio of Venice triumphed. But the latter’s victory event has ongoing controversies.
Bringing a good name to trainer Rudy Rodriguez, both Antonio of Venice and Heavyweight Champs clinched the podium. Though “It’s one of the bucket list things”, for the horse racing trainer, his wins are still being criticized. That’s because the ending, though smooth with Brick Ambush on the second initially, didn’t walk home with the silver.
The horse racing world is in a difficult position

In Gulf-Scheme Park’s X post, an interview snippet has surfaced, which mentions champ jockey Javier Castellano’s name. The caption says, “Jockey Javier Castellano tried to claim foul against the winner(1) with the @TheNYRA stewards but could not?” The woman in the video confirmed that Castellano tried to “lodge an objection against the unofficial winner, Antonio of Venice”.

But the stewards, appointed to oversee the fair running, had spotted Brick Ambush making a chain reaction. Since, at the quarter-pole, the equine had utilized the most space and caused a chaos between Solo’s Fury and The Big Torpedo, Brick Ambush got disqualified. He was then placed last after the original last finisher, Solo’s Fury. This has led to some whispers in the horse racing world.
But after the race conclusion, no one was as content as Rodriguez. Banking $275,000 in Antonio’s victory upped his earning to $350,744. Out of ecstasy, he voiced, “We’re very excited and very happy with the way they ran”. But the fans don’t look happy as the main area of contention is the disqualification of Brick Ambush.
Fans left infuriated with the Dq’d declaration
As soon as the post hit the X feed, the horse racing enthusiasts hopped in with their discontentment. One man directly charged the winner, saying,
Just watched the replay. Terrible call. The DQ’d horse didn’t do anything. If anyone should have been DQ’d, it was the winner.

Criticism extended to the trainers and the stewards too when one said,
Idk how anyone with a clear conscious bets new york tracks, constantly getting screwed by the stewards and the dirty trainers…… now I see our good friend Wayne Potts is back lol

One fan also predicted a probable implosion of the horse racing world, said,
This sport just keeps finding more ways to implode itself…. never seen anything like it in all of sport
