On the 6th of February, the entertainment industry mourned the loss of Toby Keith, often regarded as the Country icon. The ‘Made in America’ singer had captivated millions through his art for decades into his glistening career. However, after his passing, Keith did not garner just love and grievance from the entertainment industry enthusiasts alone. His knack for ventures beyond was equally matched.

Toby Keith was a known entrepreneur with his business extending to ‘food and drink’ ventures. But what stretched on Keith’s presence was his enthusiasm towards horse racing. Through sponsoring and racing his horses, Keith established a staunch base in the field, and today as he passes on, the enthusiasts stand to reciprocate.

Toby Keith’s love for horse racing stems from his early days as a musician. While he grew into his primary domain, he ensured to maintain the same in racing as evident from his presence in the sport. The 62-year-old came to participate through his stable name, Dream Walkin Farms, which owned, bred and raced thoroughbred horses. When not on tour, the icon ensured to stop by Remington Park to watch his horses race and on the side be an international ambassador for the industry. “We were extremely saddened to learn of the passing of Toby Keith today… Toby was a longtime Breeders’ Cup Ambassador and an enthusiastic Thoroughbred owner, breeder, and fan,” the Organization reminisced.

His stables’ number by 2024 reached about 6,600 starts and nearly 850 wins, according to Equibase. Further along, the stables also recorded a total earning of $4,172,156 at Remington Park, where Toby Keith usually raced. The noticeable presence thus left a void, garnering a heartfelt response from the horse racing enthusiasts.

Fans express grievance

Reacting to the news, one of Toby Keith’s fans and a racing enthusiast wrote, An American icon. He will be missed. Prayers to his family and friends.” The comment was followed by A true American!! Rest easy.” Another fan grieved as they wrote, “Such a sad day. Lost a great guy. Prayers to his family and friends.”

A fan emphasized his love for the horses, commenting, “Run with your favorite horse wild & free of pain.” As hearts and love poured for the icon, a fan applauded Toby Keith’s contribution to both industries. “A wonderful entertainer, great American 🇺🇸 gone too soon! Rest in Peace Toby Keith,” they wrote, adding a horse to conclude. The icon passed away in Oklahoma, possibly fighting stomach cancer, which was revealed in the summer of 2022. “He fought his fight with grace and courage,” the announcement read.
