In a closely contested race, Champagne City finished third, behind the victorious four-year-old Queen Of Ipanema, who claimed a purse value of $6,160.94. Followed by five years old, Alazwar, who came in second and won $3,081. Champagne City took home $1,538.73 in prize money.
Champagne City’s path to this historic occasion included a prior appearance on August 25, in the Ffos Las Heatforce Handicap.
