As promised, the 2024 horse racing season is delivering scintillating action. The race course at Ascot is the first to do so as the 1600m Handicap witnesses world-class equines compete in a fierce contest. The close contest saw over eight horse and jockey combos put up an exhilarating show to welcome the 2024 equestrian season.

Continuing his dominance from the previous 3 years, the 5-year-old gelding from Australia reigned supreme at Ascot. The champion equine eventually saw off rivals, securing an astonishing 4th-mile victory.

In the latest Twitter update, TVG announced the breathtaking victory of Currimundi at Ascot Race 4. Posting a video of his stellar run, the caption read, “CURRIMUNDI got his 4th win at a mile out of 7 tries in the race of the hour – Ascot race 4. Brayden Gaerth gave this 6-year-old gelding a well-timed ride for trainer Stephen Wolfe!”. Currimundi is trained by the renowned horse racing veteran Steve Wolfe and secured his fourth victory at a mile.

Well behind others at the 2nd last corner, Currimundi kept pushing up the speed as did jockey Brayden Gaerth. Sensing the final moments of the race, Gaerth unleashed the 6-year-old at the perfect time. The duo sped past others in no time as Gaerth let loose his horse on the outside. Following Currimundi, Acting God finished 2nd while Ginger Green had to settle with a 3rd place finish. Meanwhile, the Ascot 4 added another glorious victory to Currimundi’s remarkable career

Currimundi’s incredible horse racing career

Undoubtedly one of the highlight victories of Currimundi’s career, Ascot 4 rewarded the horse with a prize of $43840. However, he has had an illustrious career till now. Sired by the stallion Playing God, Currimundi has taken part in 23 races in his career. The Australian gelding has managed to win 8 races out of those, racking up $396, 965 prize money in the process.

Ridden by Shaun Mc Gruddy, Currimundi secured victory at the prestigious R4 Belmont Quayclean in August 2023. Before that, he emerged victorious at the R7 Belmont Quayclean as well in July. The other notable victories of his horse racing career include the R6 and R2 Ascot and R1 Albany. With an even more action-packed season lined up, Currimundi is expected to win even more bigger events.
