Voyage Bubble has been in the horse racing scenes for about 2 years with 6 wins in the bag. However, it wasn’t until today that the gelding earned his maiden Group 1 victory. On the 21st of January, trained by Ricky Yiu, Voyage Bubble set on his path to his first G1 victory at Steward’s Cup. Under the guidance of jockey James McDonald, the gelding left behind Beauty Eternal by a length and a quarter, finishing in 1m 33.97s. The questions arrived following Yiu’s remark on his rough plans if Voyage Bubble were to win the Steward’s Cup. “We’ll see how he goes on Sunday… Dubai and one of the races in Australia, maybe–” said Yiu. According to reports, the gelding has already entered G1 Dubai Turf at Meydan on Mar. 30. With his previous horse racing success and future prospects, Voyage Bubble has earned quite the praise from his connections.

Connections point out the potential

“He’s going to be a force to be reckoned with here,” jockey McDonald remarked after the win. By his victory race on the 21st, Voyage Bubble had a Hong Kong Derby win and a Hong Kong Mile placing to his name. The continued momentum and growth left a glistening impression on the trainer. “Everything matched my expectations. I was happy with the way he traveled and hit the line. I’m really happy and really happy with the horse. He’s full of talent and he keeps improving,” Yiu says.

So far, the 5-year-old has won 6 races, has 4 placings, and 2 shows to his 15 starts. Voyage Bubble, having gained the experience, Yiu remarks that the ‘world is his oyster’. According to him, the gelding has the potential to land anywhere – Dubai, Australia, or Japan. However, as of now, nothing is of surety. A mindful discussion with his connections is when trainer Yiu will be confirming the horse racing schedule for the 5-year-old.
