Horse Racing Icon Liam’s Map’s 5 Year Old Daughter Secures Victory in Interborough Stakes- Here’s Hot Fudge’s All Time Wins

It’s a fresh year in the horse racing realm, and new names are surfacing as January concludes. The 2024 Paris Olympics has the entire world on its toes, but several annual races are not in any way insignificant, especially the Thoroughbred horseraces. Horses have seen major successes in these platforms over the years. But now, as more sons and daughters of the phenoms step foot, it’s taking a more thrilling turn.

The Interborough Stakes, usually scheduled towards the beginning of January, has concluded with a bang on Saturday. At Aqueduct Racetrack in Ozone Park, as spectators flock to have a glimpse of their picks, the 5-year-old daughter of multiple G1 winner’s sire Liam’s Map sweeps victory in the seven-furlong sprint.

The horse racing world has an emerging star

Hot Fudge, the 5-year-old mare, made a gutsy comeback with the NYRA’s Instagram handle posting, “HOT FUDGE, the 5YO daughter of @lanes_endfarm stallion Liam’s Map, wins the Interborough Stakes under @kendrick_carmouche for trainer @linda_rice_racing”. When the Linda Rice-trained stunner moved past the multiple graded stakes winner- Dr. B, fans left their seats in amazement. Just by half a length, after a head-on battle, Hot Fudge emerged victorious. It was a close call between Dr. B and Hot Fudge until fellow Rice-trained Ain’t Broke stole the limelight mid-game.

But in the final leap, Dr. B and Ain’t Broke worked their gallops off to clock pack Fudge but was in vain. Securing the final time of  1:25.95, the latter soared to victory. Most of her wins came from Aqueduct and Belmont Park, including four top-position misses. December 2023 had been the most promising for Hot Fudge on account of four back-to-back stakes victories at Aqueduct. In the six-furlong sprint of the $120,000 Garland of Roses, Hot Fudge clinched the coveted victory at the same Aqueduct Racetrack. Trainer Linda Rice is a believer in adequate rest between the races. Maybe that’s why she could produce such star runners like Betsy Blue and Mommasgottarun.

She had said, “When we gave her the summer off, it wasn’t that there was any specific reason other than I just thought she needed it. I gave her all summer and she’s been ready to run for a while”. A tough call between Hot Fudge and Kant Hurry Love until the former didn’t bat an eye, setting her sight straight on the win. Clocking at 1:10.45, she walked home happy with the rider Kendrick Carmouche.
