Many horses have had impressive first races of the 2024 season, with others even suffering crushing losses. Although the world of horse racing doesn’t pay attention to every horse, there are a select few who stand out. The well-respected trainer of the exceptional always has their back. Willie Mullins is one example of a well-respected horse racing trainer. Not only did one of the most renowned trainers in the world accomplish a remarkable achievement today, but he also gave credit to one of his prized horses.
Today, the Dublin Racing Festival was graced with several significant races. But it was fascinating to see Face To File, trained by Willie Mullins, win its first Grade 1 race in the Ladbrokes Novice Chase. Mullins spoke extensively about the horse in the post-race interview, expressing his pride in the star equine.

At the Dublin Racing Festival, Willie Mullins sent many horses to the scheduled races. The Ladbroke Novice Chase, a Grade 1 race, was unique in that it had five horses. But since three horses didn’t participate in the G1 race, the field saw reduced competition. After these horses didn’t participate, just Fact To File and Gaelic Warrior remained to compete. The crowd at Leopardstown Racecourse watched as Gaelic Warrior charged over the track as the race began. But Gaelic Warrior’s speed dropped because of a few errors, and Fact To File took the lead and easily won the G1 race when the other horse fumbled the last jump and lost.

Willie Mullins remembered the horse’s first visit after this brilliant G1 win. According to the X post of Road to Cheltenham, Mullins said, “He’s always shown me he’s good.” Adding, “He’s doing everything right,“ the renowned trainer said. While praising the horse’s devotion and obedience, Mullins dropped hints about the coming of the gold cup. The trainer elaborated by saying that he would be consulting with John P. McManus, the horse’s owner, before making any decisions about the horse’s future in this sport. Apart from this feat, the trainer was also able to surprise himself with a bunch of G1 victories.

A fiesta at the Dublin Racing Festival
Every year, the Dublin Racing Festival is a sight to behold. The Irish Gold Cup, Spring Juvenile Hurdle, (Golden Cygnet) Novice Hurdle, Irish Arkle, (Brave Inca) Novice Hurdle, Ladbrokes Novice Chase, Dublin Chase, and Irish Champion Hurdle were among Willie Mullins’ eight G1 victories at the event. The renowned trainer was very pleased, and it was one of his big clean sweeps, as revealed in the interview by RTE Sport on X.

The famous trainer began his response to the congratulations with a resounding “thank you very much.” Even with his string of victories, the trainer was visibly shocked throughout the interview, which he attributed to the support of his whole crew. The “tremendous owners” who put their money into these spectacular horses for these races are also credited for their “extraordinary“ accomplishments. Because of this achievement, Mullins should become more famous in the years to come, as his name is already marked in the annals of horse racing.
