Frankie Dettori’s Italian jockey career spans over 35 years, which is almost reaching the 40th mark. And his wins and laurels christen him one of the best jockeys in the world. The 3X British Flat Racing Champion jockey has ridden over 3000 winning horses in total, including the winners of 287 Group 1 races. On September 28, 1996, the 53-year-old had ridden all seven winners at Ascot Racecourse. The notable event was the British Festival of Racing Day. And since then, the Milan-native has had several stellar moments. But from whom did he get the horse racing attributes from?

Hailing from an equestrian family, Dettori was born to Gianfranco Dettori, the 13X Italian Champion Jockey. His penchant for horses started early, since he worked as a stable lad in Newmarket at 14. The iconic Godolphin Racing ushered him in 1994, after he had already served in the yard of Luca Cumani. In 2012, after failing a drug test, he called it quits with Godolphin Racing, but continued riding John Gosden’s stable horses. 2023 would have been his final year until he announced shifting to the US circuit. But what is his net worth?

Winning his last Champion Stakes on British soil aboard King Of Steel was a remarkable one. Soon after, he also turned heads with his ‘Im a celebrity……get me out of here’ ITV show performance. But all of his wins boil down to the amount he bags in the end. As per 2019, his best recorded year, his net worth stood at a colossal £7,365,868.

But as per reports, his 2022 career earnings were $153million. And in 2023, his purse has somewhere between £15million and £18million. In the world’s top 50 highest-earning jockeys list, Dettori has secured the 37th place. But the Frankie’s Bar and Grill owner has more involvements encompassing horse racing.

The jockey’s major partnerships and sponsors

Besides equestrianism, the 53-year-old bags a considerable amount from brand partnerships or sponsorships as well. He’s on a mission to represent several prestige and international household brands on the global stage, while also promoting equestrian sports worldwide. So, if a brand fancies someone who can lend an air of authenticity and credibility, Dettori meets the criteria. So, let’s have a look at Dettori’s array of brand collaborations.

Howden

Towards the beginning of 2023, Dettori’s official British racing career, the global insurance group Howden, welcomed him as part of their family. Since the top-tier was about everything equestrian, Howden’s knack for supporting equestrianism aligned perfectly with his values. Besides their main company goal, the firm also provides equine insurance solutions for stud farms, horse owners, riding schools, racecourse trainers and racecourses. Moreover, it’s also an official partner of Ascot Racecourse.

After the highly awaited partnership, Dettori had said,  “I am so pleased to be working with Howden for the upcoming flat season; my last as a professional jockey. Howden are great supporters of the sport that has been my life for more than three decades.” Even David Howden, the founder and chief executive of the firm had said in ecstasy, “It is a great privilege for Howden to work alongside him during his final season as a flat jockey. Partnering Frankie, a globally influential sportsman, during his farewell year presents Howden with a unique opportunity to deepen our ties in the equine world.”

Sports Boulevard

One of the world’s largest urban regeneration and grassroots sports project has started operating in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia. And interestingly, Frankie Dettori has been welcomed as the honorable for the Sports Boulevard Foundation, the mind behind the thought. On a mission to make Riyadh a world-class stop for grassroots sports, the 53-year-old has teamed up to improve Riyadh’s residents’ quality of life and attract more visitors.

Since the champion jockey has a history in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the CEO of Sport’s Boulevard was delighted to have him. He had said, “He has a long association with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and will use his experience and expert advice to support our ambition to create a world class equestrian destination.”

World Pool

The world’s largest horse racing pools organization, World Pool, has greeted the champion jockey in the beginning of 2023. Operating as the brand ambassador, his responsibilities lay in providing content and regular blogs, which led up to World Pool racedays in 2023. The year 2023 has been remarkable for the firm, as it made a mark by operating at Lightning Stakes Day, Saudi Cup, and Derby Day. 2022 was World Pool’s record-breaking betting turnover, with HK$6 billion in the purse.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the partnership, the Executive Director Wagering Products of the Hong Kong Jockey Club had remarked, “It’s a huge year for Frankie and it’s the same for World Pool after a record-breaking 2022. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be partnering with a global icon who has done so much for the sport of horse racing.”
