Cody’s Wish, the 5-year-old horse, has been in the public eye for this very stance amongst his numerous feats. The Godolphin-owned thoroughbred has won multiple grade stakes throughout his 15 starts career. However, even with Breeders’ Cup and Churchill Downs to his name, Cody’s Wish is loved for something more.

Cody Dorman, an equestrian enthusiast with a rare genetic syndrome, has shared a special bond with Cody’s Wish ever since the two met. Over the years, the community has watched the magic Cody’s Wish has instilled upon his namesake. Today, as the Breeders’ Cup champ heads for another dominance on the track, his gesture towards Cody has moved the enthusiasts yet again.

Cody’s Wish meets his namesake

On the 3rd of November, the Breeders’ Cup team at X posted a video of the equine on the platform. The post showcased the gentle creature expressing affection to Cody Dorman as he sat in his wheelchair moving towards the horse. Sharing the video, Breeders’ Cup wrote,A special moment with @godolphin?s Cody?s Wish and his namesake Cody Dorman!”

Cody Dorman first met the equine through an effort shared between the Keeneland Race Course and the Make-A-Wish Foundation when Cody’s Wish was a year or 2 old.

America’s Best Racing reports that upon seeing Cody, the horse moved to gently rest his chin in the boy’s lap. The gesture was an encouragement for Cody, who improved his performance in physical therapy and remained strong through almost 50 surgeries.

The 17-year-old has revealed that Cody’s Wish helped save his life. Moreover, the equine has contributed to more such instances following Dorman’s. Thus, when the youngster was back again at the barn, horse racing fans dotted over the heartfelt interaction; sending in their love for the two.

Horse racing community relishes the bond

The video shared by the Breeders’ Cup team wasn’t anything short of a heart-touching moment. Though heartfelt moments in the equestrian aren’t rare, it’s nonetheless a warming instance each time. A user aligned well with the stance when he wrote, “everytime i see this makes me feel good.”

Another enthusiast agreed with the shared caption and expressed gratitude for having shared the video. They wrote, “This is very special. Very happy it was shared and we can all see it. Thank you.”

The story between Cody the horse and Cody the little enthusiast is definitely a story to look up to and a bond so coveted. A user perfectly agreed with the stance with her remark. “I just love this story and the bond between the two,” she wrote.

Cody’s Wish and Dorman had met well over 5 years ago and yet their story continues to wow the horse racing world. A fan even went as far to exclaim, “What a beautiful moment! This is arguably the nicest story in racing! Hope he wins tomorrow!”

As the fans cheered on for the duo, fans were also well aware of the equine’s participation at the races over the weekend. Encouraging Cody’s Wish on, one of them wrote, “Best of Luck at Breeders Cup this weekend ?Cody?s Wish. We are cheering for you.”

The horse has undoubtedly touched many lives with his presence. But sadly, his Dirt Mile G1 run at Breeders’ Cup is speculated to be his last.
