Horse racing events are an extremely exciting realm, its unpredictable events are what attracts the enthusiasts. Recently, the Grade 3 $300,000 Dogwood Stakes took place where an exciting set of races were witnessed. This is a Grade 3 American Thoroughbred horse race for three-year-old fillies that runs over a distance of seven furlongs and is held annually at Churchill Downs racetrack situated in Louisville, Kentucky. The inauguration of this event was first done on the 8th of June 1975, and since then it has been delivering excellent races.
Even this year’s Dogwood Stakes inculcated amazing contenders with a very interesting race. An unexpected winner nabbed the victory against the favorites of the race. And the way the event turned out kept all the spectators on their toes. It just kept on getting exciting, and what’s better than witnessing an unexpected win in a Grade 3 race?
Lady Radler stuns the horse racing community with her win

Owned by Mellon Patch and trained by Michael B. Campbell, the talented equine Lady Radler gave an extraordinary performance at the Dogwood Stakes on the 23rd of September 2023. Everybody thought of her to be in any position but the first. Keeping her first nine starts in consideration, she seemed like a filly who requires an early lead for excelling. However, the filly had some other plans for this event.
She shocked everyone by galloping past the leaders and nabbing the win gracefully. Radler and Jesus Castanon raced in fourth early and before him was B G Warrior who was saddled on Twice as Sweet and as the contenders started to speed their approach towards the stretch, Castanon shifted Lady Rangler to the right angle for clear sailing. According to the DRF News, the equine made a strong bid as soon as he was angled and then stormed her way to the finish attaining her win by 2 3/4 lengths. The other contenders tried to increase their pace as well and ended up attaining their deserving positions.

The other performances at the Dogwood Stakes
With Lady Radler at the first position, great progress was seen in Metaphysical who attained the seventh position after the opening quarter. He attained the second position in this race. And, with 13/4 lengths, the Yesternight grabbed the third position. Following him were Twice as Sweet in the fourth position, Santa Fe Gold, Alexa Lou, B G Warrior, Norah G, and Flamand took the remaining positions respectively.

Riding Lady Radler, Castanon was very happy with her performance. He stated, “I’ve been on her before and she’s a really nice horse.” He further added, “I’ve worked her and I always thought she would break through in graded stakes company. Tonight she did just that and I’m very proud of her.” This filly also secured second place in the Myrtlewood Stakes at Keeneland last October. With this, he also secured a third place in the Sandpiper Stakes at Tampa Bay in December. The improving performance of this equine portrays her bright future in the horse racing arena.
