Shifting our focus to the horse racing world, we have a stellar event lineup to take our breaths away. To begin the year, the anticipation for the 2024 Aintree Grand National is being strongly felt. At Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool, the 176th edition of the premiere racing event is all set to kick off. Though the number of horse participants came down from 40 to 34, fans will get the taste of success stories, anyway.
There are a lot of changes this time, with the first 16 fences being moved 60 yards closer. Even the traditional off-time will see a modification. But even though fans can settle for these minute alterations, one news has left them concerned.

Road to Cheltenham, the X handle dedicated to giving out updates throughout the National Hunt season, has posted, “No GAILLARD DU MESNIL, third in the race last year and one of the antepost favourites, in the 2024 Aintree Grand National. Was pretty sweet on his chances of going a couple better this year…” With the clip of his 2023 third finish paired with the caption, fans took a walk down memory lane when Mesnil clocked a stellar time. To date, in every race Gaillard Du Mesnil has placed hooves on, he has been a top favorite. Though the reasons behind his absence aren’t known, he can look to taste the win through any of trainer Willie Mullins’ 13 other entries.

Some of the other notable entries of the 2024 Aintree Grand National are Corach Rambler, Monbeg Genius, and Capodanno. As we try to register Mesnil being away, let’s take a look at last year’s blazing performances. The winner, Corach Rambler, had set a standard, which he’s coming to defend in 2024.

Ridden by Derek Fox, Rambler soared to victory in the April’s race last year. People/protestors had created a chaos by touching the fence in an attempt to disrupt peace. Despite that, the 8-1 shot left Vanillier in second and Mesnil in third.

It was one of the highlights of Fox’s career. He had said, “He is just a phenomenal horse. I can’t believe it. He normally gets his head up a wee bit but today he travelled everywhere”. Being one of the elite races in Britain’s sporting calendar, this year’s race will also be one-of-a-kind. With increased security and police forces, the racing association prays that there’s no disturbance this year.
