Recently, Forbidden Kingdom has returned to the tracks after a brief break of 6 months on Saturday. Considered a top-tier horse, he not only returned but also clinched the spotlight with a remarkable performance. Therefore, his recent triumph adds a compelling note to the narrative. However, the real headliners of 2023 racing are undeniably the G1 champions.

Unveiling the 2023 G1 practitioners of speed

To relive the moment of triumph while celebrating the heart-stopping finishes this year, World Horse Racing posted a video on its Twitter account. They penned, “As the curtain comes down on 2023, relive the year’s most prolific G1 winners in one minute“. The video begins with a montage of moves and flying dirt as the fastest horses of the year race on tracks.

The video features an array of horses, including Kay Army on No. 5, Imperatriz on No. 6, Auguste Rodin at No. 4, Equinox at No. 4, Golden Sixty at No. 4, Lucky Sweynesse at No. 4, Paddington at No. 4, Alligator Blood at No. 3, Belleza De Arteaga at No. 3, Blue Rose Cen at No. 3, and Cody’s Wish at No. 3.

In addition to this, the next half of the video includes Doutor Sureno at No. 3, Idiomatic at No. 3, Inspiral at No. 3, Liberty Island at No. 3, Militarize at No. 3, Mirinaque at No. 3, Mr Brightside at No. 3, Pretty Mischievous at No. 3, Princess Calla at No. 3, Romantic Warrior at No. 3, Tahiyra at No. 3, and Up to the Mark at No.3.

As the veneer draws to a close vis-à-vis the 2023 racing season, 23 of the G1 Champions emerge victorious, clinching a spot in the limelight. Trudging along, G1 horse racing is now preparing for the upcoming season.

The horseshoes are ready for 2024

Now, the racing world is preparing for the upcoming spring event. Keeneland will be unfolding a new season with a record of $8.1 million to celebrate the 100th running of G1 during the 2024 Spring Meet. Interestingly, this season will be featuring multiple events over a span of 16 days, beginning from 5th April to 26th April.

Other G1 races during the season will be showcasing various thoroughbreds with a doyen of leading jockeys, owners and trainers. Some of these include Central Bank Ashland, the Maker’s Mark Mile, the Madison, and Jenny Wiley. Will the G1 champions in the 2023 season be able to clinch Spotlight in the 2024 season as well? We certainly hope for wins in the offing.
