The horse racing world is a perfect blend of emotional highs and lows. In the same vein, the 2023 Breeder’s Cup competitor, the multiple grade stakes winner Cody’s Wish, put forth his nicest gesture when he first met a physically challenged boy at Make-A-Wish. The Godolphin-owned thoroughbred had won several hearts alongside trophies. But a news breakout today will surely leave the horse and his fellow community mourning.
Cody Dorman, Cody’s Wish’s namesake, suffered from Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome. This unique genetic disorder made the teenager go through several surgeries, but he couldn’t lift himself up from his wheelchair. Some days back, the 5-year-old visited his namesake and gently sniffed the 18-year-old’s lap, recalled their past bonding. The scene was nothing short of an emotional ride, as the family closely witnessed the human-equine camaraderie. But today’s news has left Cody and the equestrian world devastated.

The same picture from when Cody’s Wish shared a beautiful moment with the boy before his event was posted. The teenager once confessed that his zeal to live started to build since the horse stepped into his life. But after the adorable teenager met his namesake, he may have fulfilled his last dream.
However, the saddest and the best part is, Cody Wish clinched his Breeders’ Cup win, after receiving blessings from Dorman’s family and the little boy. Even though the Dorman family prepared themselves for this day, they may never get over their son’s loss. Having said that, Cody witnessed another Cody’s win and breathed his last with a happy heart.
