As the first to depart this year’s ITV show after a two-week stint in Australia, Dettori’s appearance followed his decision to conclude his celebrated racing tenure in England. The 53-year-old, a three-time British flat racing champ with 287 Group 1 race victories, opted to move to California, marking a significant shift from his long-standing career in England.
In his recent update, he generously unveiled intimate narratives of his riding experiences alongside his dear friend. Through these narratives, he adeptly conveyed poignant snippets from his profound reservoir of memories tethered to the horse racing world, transcending the mere act of riding.
Dettori fondly evokes racing compatriot

In a recent heartfelt revelation, Dettori opened up about his all-time favourite ride, divulging intimate details about the cherished memory that stood above the rest. Despite a career studded with remarkable victories, it was this particular journey on horseback that etched a permanent mark on his soul. Expressing fond sentiments, he took to Instagram to share his thoughts on his beloved horse. He articulated, ‘ enjoy most to ride without a doubt was “Enable” because she was my sweetheart and we want everything for four years and I really loved her“. It seemed like he loved the cut of her jib.
In 2020, Frankie Dettori, reflecting on Enable’s retirement, emotionally praised the mare he rode in 14 group 1 starts, winning 11 times. Recalling their incredible journey spanning over three and a half years, Dettori expressed both joy and sadness upon hearing the news, cherishing the memories Enable gave him. According to Blood-Horse, he expressed, “Because she’s been around for so long, I’ve got very attached to her. I was tearful last night and, of course, it’s emotional, but today I went to see her and I’ll always remember her for the good stuff.“

In the late 1980s, renowned jockeys like Bill Shoemaker, Laffit Pincay Jr., Chris McCarron, Eddie Delahoussaye, Gary Stevens, and Fernando Toro graced the circuits of Santa Anita, Hollywood Park, and Del Mar. Amid these legends emerged Frankie Dettori, then an apprentice in the local scene, before carving his name as a global riding sensation. His pinnacle moment came in 1996 at Ascot Racecourse, riding seven winners in a single day, a feat etching his name in racing history.

His charm, spectacular unseating and remarkable riding, endear him with thousands of followers from Italy and almost any racecourse worldwide. He has won races such as the English Derby, and the Arc de Triomphe among others, including some Breeders’ Cup winners. Initially retiring after the 2023 Breeder’s Cup, Frankie has, however, just recently announced that he will be back riding full time at Santa Anita. Revised plans will consist of seeking the initial Kentucky Derby win and ending the career in the last Breeder’s Cup at Del Mar, extending the possibility for fans to notice talent over one additional season.
