If you are a fan of equestrian sports, you would know that they are a great way to test your strength, agility, speed, and alertness. However, they can be dangerous and prone to mishaps. Both the rider and the animal are at risk of injury or accident. One such incident happened in February this year, the video of which has gone viral again. A horse belonging to the Budweiser Clydesdales team met with an accident, causing safety issues for other animals present in the rodeo.

It so happened that a Clydesdales horse got entangled in some of the other horses and had a fall. As seen in the video on YouTube from the Stock Show and Rodeo, the horses were standing too close to each other, tied up together to the Budweiser Wagon. Fans have reacted in a positive manner to the incident, showing concern and praising the people and animals involved for keeping it together.

An equestrian sports fan wrote a detailed note on YouTube under the video. “I almost cried when I saw the horse try to get up and just lay back down. I’ve had horses in and out of my life ever since I can remember, but I’m by no means knowledgeable when it comes to their care and such. But the speed at which the guy jumped down off that cart was impressive, to say the least!” she wrote.

“I was also impressed by everyone working together to get this horse back up off the ground. Didn’t see any tension between them, they all followed each other’s direction and queue… Add the announcer helping to keep everyone calm, which allowed for the horses to remain calm. Just amazing… The whole thing!” she added.

The Budweiser Clydesdales own many horses. These animals are used for brand promotions at events with a wagon. The Anheuser-Busch In-Bev company also uses these animals for its commercials. More positive, as well as concerned, remarks continued on the viral clip after the occurrence. Users on YouTube also commented positively upon the way the equestrian crisis was handled by the announcer and the professionals on the ground.

A fan observed, “That announcer made all the difference. He calmed the crowd and kept the atmosphere quiet and peaceful so that the horses didn’t get more upset. What a true professional! I also teared up when the horse finally got up–so glad he’s ok!”

People also remarked on how calm the horses were in the midst of an equestrian incident that could have sent all animals present in a tizzy. “Seeing how calm those horses are is amazing. Two horses went off script, something snapped, the environment is unfamiliar and one of them is on the ground yet not one of the horses panicked or spooked,” said a YouTube user, adding, “It’s not only a testament to the general temperment of that breed but also how much they know and trust their handler.” (sic)

Another fan pointed out that the human standing in the middle of the field where the rodeo accident took place was the “real hero.” The fan wrote in praise, “To the person who ran straight in to the middle of the Malay to attend to the horse that was down, and in the most immediate danger, YOU are a real hero. You did exactly the right things to keep that horse calm and as safe as possible”. The fan continued further, stating, “You helped that horse make it back to his feet- there was a team of people out there around you helping, but you are the hero. You saved at least one horse’s life out there and saved the day for thousands of spectators as well. Thank you.”
