Katie Meyer’s unexpected death has left the soccer world shaken. Meyer was just 22 years old, and her death was untimely. Katie was the senior goalkeeper for Standford Women’s Soccer Team.
Meyer was also the team captain at the Standford Women’s Soccer Team. Katie led her team to help Stanford win its third NCAA women’s soccer championship in 2019. USWNT soccer players Carli Lloyd and Alex Morgan have taken to Twitter to express their condolences.

Star soccer players express their condolences regarding Katie Meyer’s death
Katie was majoring in International Relations at the university. Along with being a team captain and senior goalkeeper, she was also a Resident Assistant. The young soccer player was found in her room on campus. Officials haven’t yet determined the cause of her death. Senior soccer player of USWNT Alex Morgan took to Twitter to express her sadness at the player’s untimely demise.

Retired captain Carli Lloyd too shared the post, commenting that the news was “heartbreaking.”

Australian soccer player Teagan Micah also send her condolences to Katie’s family. Katie’s death is just another reminder to keep a check on our near and dear ones.
“just feel like this needs to be said again. be kind. check on your friends,” tweeted Micah.Katie Meyer was a young player, and she had years of competing ahead of her. The cause of her death is yet to be determined by the officials. No report has come out regarding the reason for her death.
The Standford community has suffered a big loss
The Standford community has released an official statement regarding Katie Meyer’s death. In the official statement shared by the community, they described that she was a “larger than life” person.
“Katie was extraordinarily committed to everything and everyone in her world. Her friends describe her as a larger-than-life team player in all her pursuits,” read the statement.
