Texas native Simone Biles has officially become the greatest of all time in gymnastics last week. The seven-time Olympic medalist performed several remarkable performances during her elite competitions, dominating both the individual all-around and individual apparatus events. One of the events where Biles has claimed the crown in each of her six visits is the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Following her wedding, she promptly embarked on a rigorous training routine, subsequently securing narrow victories at the national level before leading her team at the international competition.

“It?s full circle because obviously, the World Championships were here 10 years ago, which were my very first one,” she said. The expression “ate and left no bread crumbs” perfectly sums up Biles’ departure from Antwerp, having clinched an astonishing 27 world championship medals. Almost two weeks since her historic triumph, a recent update reminded her of how fast the night changes.

Back in 2013, 16-year-old Simone Biles made her Worlds debut; the emerging sensation won the judges’ and audience’s hearts with her incredible skills. Taking home four medals, including two golds. On 8th October, the 2023 World Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, Belgium concluded with Biles taking home five medals including four golds! Team USA and USA Gymnastics shared a parallel of each of her wins; all-around and individual apparatuses on their Instagram.

The 21 canary-yellow alloy owner earlier penned a note on achieving the unthinkable which was captioned, “Times change, but the (G.O.A.T emoji) remains.” 26-year-old Biles shared an emotional Instagram story and replied, “Oh my goodness. the throwbacks!” with four teary-eyed emojis. The gymnast has been active since leaving the Sportpaleis facility in the world’s diamond capital, responding to the joy of her victory on social media platforms.

The d?j? vu was striking, as described by the national sports body; Biles secured a silver medal in the vault in both competitions, along with a bronze in the 2013 Worlds on the beam which transformed into gold this year, while claiming gold on the floor in both events. With the new faces in each of the podium finishes, the only constant was Simone on AA. However, in all the years, a fascinating perspective on the all-around title took place this time.

Simone Biles’ special AA finish

With a stellar score of 58.399 in the final all-around standings, Biles became the first gymnast with a record-sixth AA gold win. While Rebeca Andrade of Brazil took second place in close succession. And Biles’s compatriot Shilese Jones won bronze, both Rebeca and Jones were the 2022 Worlds top-two AA victors. Biles currently owns an astounding total of 34 world and Olympic medals surpassing every other gymnast in sports history. Notably, the combined efforts of these three sportsmen represented a historic occasion as the first all-Black podium in world history, men’s or women’s.

Back in 2013, Biles overcame a bunch of seasoned Olympians to win the world all-around championship in her first international competition. The current U.S. all-around champion edged Kyla Ross, who had 59.332 points after three of the four rotations, to earn a spectacular total score of 60.216 points. The parallel, much like her recent opening and closing day finishes. After a two-year mats absence, Biles is back with the Paris Olympics just around the corner.
