Simone Biles made an unforgettable return to the global stage in Antwerp, where she began her journey ten years ago. Life has come a “full circle” as Biles said this September; she left the 2023 world gymnastics championships with five medals—four gold and one silver—bringing her total to 30. Busy with regular season games, her NFL safety husband, Jonathan Owens, was rooting for her from the States the entire time. But if one remembers, Biles had the loudest cheers from her ex-boyfriend during the last Worlds in Stuttgart, Germany. She won 5 gold and 2 named moves. And he celebrated by saying, “I get hyped every time I watch her do her thing & today was no exception.”

The athletes had split up back in early March 2020, and a lot has happened since then. All the while, Simone’s ex-boyfriend stayed close to one of her friends. Old sweethearts recently reunited to bestow blessings on their mutual friend who embarked on a special journey.

If you know Simone Biles or even know little about her personal life, you may be familiar with Rachel Moore, who is Simone’s childhood best friend. Last week, the gymnast’s best friend was reciting her wedding vows while Simone posed for cameras after claiming an all-around unprecedented sixth time. Moore shared a post on her Instagram captioned, “Mr. & Mrs. Roettger 10/6/23.” “Congrats, (red heart emoji) y’all look beautiful!!!!!!!” Biles sent in a message while she was not in attendance at the ceremony.

Another person was pinned and liked by Rachel in the comments section in addition to Biles. Stacey Ervin Jr., a millionaire and former WWE champion, wrote, “My favorite couple of all time with red heart trophy and diamond emoji.” Before calling it quits in 2020, the pair dated for three years, starting in the summer of 2017. Nellie Biles, Biles’ grandmother and adoptive mother, hired him to work as a coach at her gym, that’s how their love story began.

Simone’s last birthday note for her ex Stacey, also a famous wrestler, former gymnast, and fitness coach said, “Never stop being you Stacey Ervin Jr.” Good for Stacey; he never changed and kept his close connection with Rachel. Ervin was Biles’ first boyfriend, she later confessed; and she subsequently said, “It’s hard being young and having that long of a relationship and then ending it.”

Letting bygones be bygones the shared space seems healthy for the former couple now. Meanwhile, Biles brought home a flurry of gold from Antwerp yet again.

Biles lost the vault competition to Rebeca Andrade, the 2022 all-around champion. Rebeca and Shilese Jones, who took home a silver at Worlds last year, were a constant threat to the reigning Simone during the week-long event. In contrast to her first Worlds, where she competed with a squad of veteran gymnasts, she was the eldest member of the team this time, emerging as a supernova in the star-studded arena.
