Some athletes remain undefeated throughout their entire careers. But every great has had to face a rival of equal caliber at least once during their career. A similar incident happened with Simone Biles at the 2013 AT&T American Cup.

The gymnast that defeated Biles at the meet was none other than the viral sensation, Katelyn Ohashi. Before she broke the internet with her dance routine, she beat the GOAT in her own game.
Not to mention, she was most famously known for defeating the GOAT during her first international meet as a senior; And after that, for her dazzling never seen before moves on the mat.
Ohashi’s win over Simone Biles
At the meet, the two athletes, both 15 at the time, had a neck-to-neck contest. Both the gymnasts put in their best performances to win the all-around title.
Both their routines were quite impressive. Biles even went on to earn the highest score of the day in the vault and the uneven bars. She scored 15.733 in the vault while earning 14.800 on the uneven bars. Much like Ohashi, it was Biles? senior international debut too.

However, things changed when Biles lost her balance and fell during a routine on the balance beam. With this, Simone descended from the lead position.
And although she concluded the routine with a full-twisting double back, she lost a few points owing to her losing balance and scored a mere 13.133 on the balance beam. However, she made a comeback trying to bridge the gap, earning 14.000 on the floor. It put her on a total score of 57.666.
But it was not enough to defeat her teammate, who scored an astounding 59.199 points, leaving Biles behind by one and a half-point. Furthermore, the viral star scored her best on the balance beam, earning 15.333 points. Katelyn?s impressive performance on the balance beam helped her with this momentous victory over her teammate.

Why did Katelyn Ohashi stop competing?
However, Ohashi stopped competing some years later due to multiple injuries and surgeries that the gymnast had to undergo. Notably, she asserts that another reason for her not competing was also because of criticism from fans.

But Ohashi rose to fame again in 2019 after scoring a perfect 10 at the 2019 Under Armour Collegiate Challenge. Her cheerful routine was widely praised by fans and critics alike, and she became an internet sensation overnight.
