This US gymnast seems to have a knack for miraculously getting out of a mess. Take, for example, his gruesome injury before the Paris Olympics. With eyes set firmly on Paris, this gymnast saw his world crashing down in late 2023. Competing at the Gymnastics DTB Cup, the 25-year-old had a rough fall from the high bar as he botched his landing. Getting all the impact on his right knee, the US gymnast had a list of injuries to cater to. He had a broken knee, a torn lateral collateral ligament, a partially torn posterior cruciate ligament, a tibial plateau fracture, and a torn meniscus.

Naturally, it looks a lot and indeed, Brody Malone had to momentarily switch off the hopes of him competing in Paris. Three surgeries later, the doctors asked the gymnast to take full-fledged rest. That should have been the final nail in the coffin. But not for Brody. “I don’t like to lose,” Malone said in an interview with Team USA back during the time. And he proved it by miraculously recovering and taking the mat in June at the US Championships. The rest is history everyone knows. Malone not only qualified for Paris but he also helped Team USA to clinch an Olympic medal after 16 long years! Now, despite recovering and qualifying for Paris, Brody Malone might have still missed the flight to Paris!

Why you ask? Well, he came down with a hand, foot, and mouth disease. In a recent X update from a user named, ‘Kensley Behel’, Malone’s coach, Syque Caesar could be spotted revealing a shocking truth. There were rumors going around in Paris when the 3x US Championship winner was spotted wearing the mask. Detailing the inside story, Caesar stated that Malone did really have physical complications. “Brody was like declining in terms of like training. He’s like, ‘I’m just so tired. My hands are really hot. They’re like, really, my hands are hurting’.”

Upon being examined by the doctor, a baffling news came to the forefront. The 25-year-old had hand, foot, and mouth disease! His coach could not believe the news as he exclaimed in the video, “I’m like, what? My two-year-old daughter got that. From daycare! What daycare is Brody hanging out at?” And there were more reasons for Caesar to be concerned. While Malone’s situation was contagious, the team’s flight to Paris was slated for the very next day.

But then came the Brody Malone miracle. His coach received a call from Dr. Lowry stating, “Hey, he’s cleared.” Syque Caesar could not believe his ears. Shocked to the core, his coach said, “I’m like, what? Holy c–p, are you serious?” Well, while the story behind Malone wearing a mask is revealed, his tendency to get clear of messy situations is commendable. Unfortunately, Brody Malone could not work his magic for once in his life to make things straight. This was when he lost his mother at the age of 12.

Unfortunately, the strong bond of love and support came to an end in 2012. Succumbing to the deadly breast cancer, Tracy Malone breathed her last, with Brady’s father taking up the entire responsibility of the Olympian. And after all these years, Brody still honors his mother by keeping her close in his own way. Posting a snippet on his Instagram story dated October 25, 2024, the Olympic bronze winner said, “I always keep her pink Bandana on my gym bag.”

Now, trying to ensure how deadly breast cancer can be, Brody Malone laid stress on the awareness of the same in his story. “Breast cancer awareness is really important to me and my family because of our personal connection with it,” said the gymnast. Thus, having a mixed bag of emotions so far, it now remains to be seen how much more success Brody Malone can attract in the gymnastics world to make Tracy Malone smile proudly from the heavens.
