Stephen Nedoroscik has come a long way. From being skeptical whether his lower body would even allow him to perform well on Dancing With The Stars to now making it to the semi-final of the show, he’s definitely exceeded expectations! But while he’s crushing it on the dance floor, his gymnastics career might be feeling the pressure. Who says that? Well, it was he who recently admitted being a little unsure about his gymnastics form.
While the combination of Stephen, gymnastics, and uncertainty seems a bit hard to digest, it represents the current order of things, as he confesses. Appearing on the Shawn and Andrew Podcasts, Team USA’s Pommel Horse guy got questioned, “Are you still training for gymnastics while you’re out there?” Well, his reply to this may stun many—especially those who thought he’d be balancing both worlds with ease.
Stephen Nedoroscik replied, “Actually, I’m not, and this is the longest gymnastics break I’ve ever taken in my life. I’m a little scared about my comeback into the sport.” Indeed, while he kept nailing it on the show, one episode after another, the gymnast missed out on the entire Gold Over America Tour, especially in its historic year, when the male gymnasts made their debut on the team.

But it wasn’t all bad for Stephen Nedoroscik, as he did earn notable fandom via DWTS, with people recognizing him as an internet sensation. He even got to present an award at the 2024 Emmys. But not once did he stop thinking about gymnastics, which is why he pulled out the pommel horse on the Dedication Night for a short solo bit. More than satisfying, the practice for that was re-assuring, he says. It gave him some peace of mind, reminding him that his gymnastics skills were still there.
Stephen Nedoroscik admitted, “But, you know, a few weeks ago, we had a pommel horse session with the dance team, and I got about 30 minutes where no one was looking. I was playing around and doing some actual gymnastics on it, and I kind of still got some moves. So, I don’t think it’s going to be the worst comeback, especially with how much in-shape dance keeps you.”

He even seemed confident that despite the gap, he’d pick up the sport easily. “I think that when I finally do get to come back to gymnastics, it’ll be able to be picked up easily again,” shared the “Clark Kent” of gymnastics. In the meantime, Nedoroscik has achieved some notable highs in his DWTS stint. Starting with a decent 21/30 in week 1, he pushed through the milestones one after the other to reach this stage. And now, he’s at a thin distance from etching his name in the history of DWTS.
Stephen Nedoroscik’s reached the DWTS semis
With no dance background whatsoever, just some athletic flair and a can-do attitude, Stephen Nedoroscik has managed to place himself among the cream of the show. With a mesmerizing Viennese waltz, Stephen and his dance partner Rylee sealed their place in the semi-finals, with a near-perfect 29 score (their highest so far). Inspired by Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas’ season 31 dance, the two decided to shake a leg to ‘Glimpse of Us’ by Joji on the historic 500th episode of the show.

Well, one can see a gradual upward progression in his graph from the start. But reaching the semis is no small feat. Thus, Team USA gave him and Ilona Maher a shoutout on X that read, “OUR PARIS OLYMPIANS ARE STILL DANCIN’ and are headed to the #DWTS semis!” But do you think that his DWTS success has weighed heavily on his gymnastics career in the meantime?
