Jordan Chiles has attained great heights as a national team member through the years. Making it to the Olympics, bearing the nation’s flag at the Pan American Games, and leading the team to victory to maintain the streak, the 22-year-old has much to add to her resume. The very list has placed the star as a 2024 Olympics hopeful, lending her staunch focus to the elite competitions. However, despite the impressive path ahead, a cherishable past isn’t easily forgone.

Jordan Chiles led a short yet momentous journey as a UCLA gymnast. Making her NCAA debut in 2022, the Olympian secured two titles through the seasons. Today, as she moves about on the next path, a youthful part of that remains in the college has ensured to live and cheer alongside those persisting.

On the 27th of January, the UCLA Bruins went against Washington to record the season-best score of 197.825. Jordan Chiles, who seemed to have caught on with the meet, took to her Instagram stories to share her elation. “That’s how we do it bruins!!!” the gymnast wrote sharing a post from her alma mater. “The Bruins scored a season-high 197.825 in a dual meet win over Washington, closing strong with a 49.5 on beam and 49.625 on floor!” the post cheered on.

Prior to the closing scores on floor and beam, the team put up 49.400 on the vault and 49.300 on uneven bars. The impressive numbers for the start provided the team a firm ground to lead further. The 49.625 on the floor was also recorded as a season-high. An evening for the Bruins thus secured a worthy message from Jordan Chiles who has etched much of her heart in UCLA.

The gymnast’s two hearts

Throughout her NCAA seasons, Jordan Chiles secured about eight perfect 10s across floor and uneven bars. Further along, she had clinched an all-around title in 2022 with 39.700 and was named Pac-12 freshman of the week. The wins meant more to the 22-year-old in the tight-knit and playful presence of her teammates at UCLA. Olympics.com highlights that the connection was so well etched that Chiles had second thoughts when it came to leaving her college behind for Paris 2024 training.

“At first, I was like, ‘Do I want to do this? Do I not.’ Only because I’d such an amazing NCAA season, I didn’t want to leave my team,” she said. However, a trip with her friends that followed along next helped Jordan Chiles gain a perspective and get back on track. “But it’s ok if you navigate yourself to a totally different direction,” she told herself and per her record, she has been doing it rather excellently.
